The GHTA Members Going Pure By Reducing Waste
ST.GEORGE’S, GRENADA - June 9, 2015 - The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) continues to demonstrate leadership and commitment to sustainable tourism in Grenada. Following a GHTA organized workshop, the Members that participated have agreed to take a significant step towards destination wide sustainable tourism by formally linking the individual corporate “green” committee’s with other enterprises in the GHTA Membership by having one person from each hotel or business join the group and meet on a regular basis.
Several hotels and businesses will also be signing up for a program called “PREMA” which stands for ‘Profitable Resource Efficient Management’ which will enable the Members to dramatically reduce waste
in a way that supports their businesses.
The GHTA will also organize at least one field trip for staff and Members to visit the landfill, see recycling efforts on the island first hand and to discuss how to better reduce and separate waste at their own place of business. Turning their learning into practice is central to the Member’s commitment to sustainable tourism, so a collection schedule has already been set up with the Spice Isle Recycling Company.

The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation tasked with being the representative private sector voice of the island’s tourism sector.
