The annual blind tasting competition took place during the just concluded 2015 Caribbean Rum & Beer Festival held in St.Maarten, hosted at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino. In a closed room session the judging panel sampled over 60 rums and made their decisions based upon four criterions; Appearance, Aroma, Taste and Overall Impression; and awarded medallions to the adjudicated top three products in each section

This year the judging panel included the co-founders of the International Rum Council Dave Russell, Mike Streeter, Carlton Grooms and Nick Feris, as well as rum exporters to Asia; Shinobu & Maryse Uchiono of Gwad-Link, in addition to Bob Leonard, Martin Shawn, Mark Theron, Carl Kanto, Philip Ils and Jonathan Collymore.

“We are extremely pleased that our selected rums were very successful in this ever growing international competition, and to have won GOLD twice in two highly competitive category’s; Premium and over proof,” says Damon Du Bois, marketing Manager of the Westerhall Estate Ltd. “These are award winning rums and we invite everyone to experience them responsibly.”
