GHTA Holds 61st Annual General Meeting Under the Theme: Resilience and Responsibility
St. George’s, Grenada – December 5, 2023 – The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) successfully hosted its 61st Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, December 4th, under the inspiring theme: “Resilience and Responsibility:
Building a Sustainable Future for Grenada’s Tourism.” The event, held at the Point Salines Hotel, was sponsored by AeroMD Remote Travel Insurance, Point Salines Hotel, and Unicomer.
The AGM featured a keynote address from Hon. Andy Williams, Minister of Mobilization, Implementation & Transformation, who emphasized the importance of collaboration, unity, and inclusivity—central themes echoed throughout the program by various speakers. Minister Williams highlighted the government’s commitment to leveling the playing field within the tourism industry and offered practical solutions to combat current climatic challenges facing the sector.
Musical guest Sabrina Francis added a touch of local talent to the event, captivating attendees with her performance and reinforcing the cultural richness that Grenada has to offer.
During the meeting, various business solutions were presented to help build resilience within the tourism industry, addressing the need for innovative approaches to sustain growth in the face of challenges. The GHTA remains dedicated to fostering an environment where all stakeholders can thrive through collaboration and shared responsibility.
A new board was elected during the AGM, with Elvis Lewis, owner of Sea Glass Place, stepping in as the new president. The board also includes Leo Garbutt as Vice President, Maria Bennett as Secretary, and Russ Fielden as Treasurer. Other board members include immediate past president Kendra Hopkin, Carlene Woodroffe, Craig Keller, Mandoo Seales, Christine Finney, and Aaron Seales.
