Empowering Women in Grenada’s Tourism Industry: A Message from Arlene Friday, CEO
of GHTA, on International Women’s Day
Dear Members of the Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association,
As we mark International Women’s Day, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the
progress that has been made toward achieving gender equality in the tourism industry
and to highlight the work that still needs to be done.
Women play a vital role in Grenada’s tourism industry. We are fortunate to have many
talented and dedicated women in our accommodation sector, restaurants, and other
tourism-related businesses. However, despite the progress made toward achieving
gender equality, there is still much work to be done.
At the Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association, we support women in the tourism industry
and promote gender equality in all aspects of our work. We recognize that women face
unique challenges and barriers in the workplace, and we are working to address these
challenges through various initiatives and programs.
One of our key priorities is to provide training and development opportunities for women
in the tourism industry, helping them to build their skills and advance their careers. We
also promote women’s leadership and participation in decision-making processes at all
levels of the industry, from the boardroom to the front desk.

We believe that promoting gender equality is not only the right thing to do but it is also
essential to the long-term success of Grenada’s tourism industry. By harnessing the talent
and creativity of all members of our community, regardless of gender, we can build a
more sustainable, responsible, and booming tourism industry that benefits everyone.
As we mark International Women’s Day, I encourage you to join me in celebrating the
many achievements of women in the tourism industry and renewing our commitment to
promoting gender equality in all aspects of our work.
