GHTA Hotel/Restaurant Nutmeg/Spice Competition

Seven hotels/restaurants competed in the GHTA Hotel/Restaurant Nutmeg & Spice Festival Competition, these being Dodgy Dock Restaurant - True Blue Bay Resort, Rhodes Restaurant at Calabash Hotel, Bash Bar by Mark B at Calabash Hotel, Coyaba Garden Beach Resort, La Belle Creole at Blue Horizons Garden Resort, Savvy’s at Mt. Cinnamon, and Beach Terrace Restaurant at Flamboyant Hotel. The judges for the event Derek Went from Barbados, Denzil Philip, consultant for the Nutmeg & Spice Festival, and Pam Canova, tutor at the TAMCC Hospitality Department, were impressed with all the dishes and cocktails presented to them. They spent time with each team giving valuable feedback which, it is felt, will help to improve the standards of the chefs and bartenders, and the overall standard of the culinary arts in Grenada.

Prizes of hampers donated by Angostura were awarded to La Belle Creole at Blue Horizons Garden Resort for their special effort, Dodgy Dock Restaurant, True Blue Bay Resort for their cocktail, Bash Bar by Mark B at Calabash Hotel for their appetizer and entrée, and Savvy’s at Mount Cinnamon for their dessert. Overall winner of the competition was Dodgy Dock Restaurant who was delighted to be the recipients of a revolving challenge trophy.
