GHTA/True Blue Bay Resort Olympic Cocktail Mixing Competition

Dodgy Dock hosted the ‘GHTA/True Blue Bay Resort Olympic Cocktail Mixing Competition’ to honour all the athletes who represented Grenada at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Bartenders from various hotels in Grenada were invited to compete to make the best ‘Respect the Nutmeg’ and ‘Gear Shifter’ drinks.

Using fresh fruit sponsored by the Marketing & National Importing Board, local rums from Westerhall Rum Distillery, spices and other local Caribbean ingredients the participants blended, shook and stirred varying combinations to produce some innovative cocktails. Five judges were on hand to give score all drinks and the opinions of the attending guest were taken into consideration.

By unanimous decision the winners of the competition was Derek Cuffie of True Blue Bay Resort for the ‘Gear Shifter’ cocktail and Chrystel Connaught of Kalinago Beach Resort for the ‘Respect the Nutmeg’.

Both winners were awarded five hundred dollars cash, a gold medal, trophy and bragging rights as the drinks will be registered with the patent office.The GHTA intends to issue the receipts for these drinks to all member properties please contact the office if you are interested in adding them to your cocktail menu.
